Duo return for Corinthians as midfielder leaves pitch with bloodied face

Corinthians was defeated by Santos, 3-1, at Vila Belmiro, in a match valid for the Brasileirão. In addition to the negative result and the team's performance away from home, there were notable situations during the game, such as the returns of Kayke and Dieguinho, as well as André leaving the field with a bloodied face.

The duo had not played for Corinthians’ professional team for almost a month. The first mentioned, who plays on the left, had last appeared on September 13, when Timão beat Fluminense 1-0 at Maracanã. Dieguinho played his last match more recently, facing Sport at Ilha do Retiro.

Despite their entries, the biggest concern for the Fiel was André, the youth academy player who has been frequently used by the coaching staff. He came on in the second half, but during a challenge for the ball, he was struck by a Santos player’s elbow, causing bleeding.

With Corinthians in a hurry to chase the result, he was substituted for Dieguinho, who was supposed to come on for João Pedro Tchoca, the defender. Even though his face was bloodied, the referee did not call a foul and play continued as normal.

Corinthians’ next fixture is on Saturday, the 18th, again for the Brasileirão, starting at 9 p.m. (Brasília time). The match is against Atlético-MG at the Neo Química Arena, in a direct clash in the second match of the table.
