Eddie Howe has delivered an injury update on Tino Livramento, Anthony Gordon and Jacob Murphy ahead of the Tyne-Wear derby at St James’ Park, confirming Livramento is back in the squad after around two months out with a hamstring problem.
"He probably hasn't done enough training for me to feel 100% confident that he's in that best physical moment, especially for such a big game to start." He told The Shields Gazette.
"But, he's in our squad and anyone who's in that position obviously is in contention to play. So, it's a delicate balance with Tino at the moment."
"He trained again this morning, he trained again on Friday, and he's in good spirits, he's in a good place. But obviously, I've got to try and get the team selection right."
"I think we came through the Manchester City game okay. No fresh injuries. Got a little bit of illness again in the camp, but I anticipate we won't lose anybody."
Murphy has had a neck issue and Gordon an ankle problem, with the latter also ill before midweek, though both appeared as second-half substitutes against Barcelona in the Champions League. Dan Burn and Joelinton, who were on the bench against Manchester City, returned to face the Spanish side on Tyneside. With the derby in 18 days’ time, Newcastle could head into it close to full strength.
