Eintracht Frankfurt consider sacking Dino Toppmöller after latest Bundesliga disappointment

Eintracht Frankfurt board-member-for-sport Markus Krösche’s post-match comments following Friday night’s 3-3 draw with Werder Bremen appear to suggest that head coach Dino Toppmöller may be set for the axe this weekend. The fact that Eintracht have only gained two points and conceded nine goals in their three 2026 Bundesliga matches remains unacceptable for a Champions League side.

Eintracht’s inability to consistently defend this season has led to them conceding a league high 39 Bundesliga goals just over halfway through the campaign. Although Toppmöller’s SGE remain in 7th place in the table, the defensive record is appalling. Krösche – who tore into the team following Tuesday night’s loss against Stuttgart – wasn’t in a better mood on Friday evening.

Krösche avoids committing to Dino Toppmöller

Tonight’s 3-3 draw was nothing more than a lucky result,” Krösche remarked in the mixed zone. “It’s always the same mistakes. We’ve had the same issues for 17 or 18 games now. We concede incredibly simple goals, are far too hectic in possession, and have no structure.

Nothing ever changes,” Krösche continued. “We can’t go on like this. We’re discussing it now. We have to address the issues and make sure we never perform like this again.”

Toppmöller still seems confident

I don’t have that feeling [that I’m about to be sacked],” Toppmöller answered in response to a direct question at the post-match press conference. “Of course, the buck always stops with me in terms of responsibility no matter what. That much is clear.”
