Elland Road expansion gathers pace as capacity boost work continues

Elland Road’s redevelopment is accelerating ahead of the new season, and will lift capacity from 37,645 to 53,000.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, work around the West and North Stands includes removing the Banqueting Suite, demolishing the ticket office and taking down floodlights.

The external structure outside the West Stand is being demolished, while internal works continue. Work on the pitch and dugouts will be complete in time for next season.

Leeds United are next expected to host RB Leipzig in a pre-season friendly on the weekend of eight-nine August.

Supporters can expect improved seating, comfort and sightlines in the new West Stand. New images from the site show demolition and clearance progressing at pace.
