The wording pointed to Madrid’s European ambitions, with the club missing this final after a quarter-final exit to Bayern Munich, losing 1-2 and 3-4.

Real have 15 European Cups and Champions League titles, the most recent in 2024, and remain a benchmark of the continental game.
