Enzo Fernández has been left out of Chelsea’s next two fixtures by coach Liam Rosenior after the midfielder discussed uncertainty over his future.
According to Glorioso 1904, Rosenior has ruled the Argentina international out of the FA Cup tie against Port Vale and the Premier League match with Manchester City. Fernández joined from Benfica in 2023 for more than €120 million.
The move follows recent remarks in which he left open a possible exit at the end of the season, noting there are eight games and the FA Cup to play, plus the World Cup, and he would then see. He also said he would like to live in Madrid and has been linked to Real.
The coach judged that a line had been crossed in relation to the group’s culture and values. He emphasised his respect for Fernández, said the decision was taken with the board and that it is not a definitive exclusion.
During a run of four consecutive defeats, Fernández publicly admonished some team-mates on the pitch, creating unease within the squad. The side are seeking a top-five Premier League finish.
