Enzo Maresca has confirmed both Romeo Lavia and Benoit Badiashle won’t be available for Chelsea’s trip to Brentford.

The Blues head to Brentford on Saturday night looking to continue their unbeaten start to the season, ahead of a run of four consecutive away games in three different competitions.

With a trip to Germany to face Bayern Munich on Wednesday night in the Champions League, Maresca could shuffle the pack for the first time this season.

Maresca confirms Lavia and Badiashile not fit for Brentford

Chelsea have strengthened their squad this summer, and added quality in depth as well, but they’ve been hit with some injury problems early on.

Liam Delap is sidelined until November with a hamstring injury, whilst Chelsea fear Dario Essugo could miss 12 weeks after undergoing surgery on a thigh injury.

Cole Palmer has returned to training in a huge boost, whilst Lavia and Badiashile were seen back in training this week in more good news for Maresca.

With Essugo injured, keeping Lavia fit has taken on even more importance, whilst Badiashile is currently on schedule with his return.

However, the Italian has confirmed neither will be taking part in the game against Brentford, although they are close to a return.

“Both are close, but not available for tomorrow,” he said as cited by journalist Kieran Gill on X.com.

Cole Palmer back in training

Whilst Lavia and Badiashile will miss the game, Palmer was seen in training on Friday and should be in line to feature against the Bees.

Palmer has missed Chelsea’s last two matches after pulling up in the warm up ahead of the win against West Ham.

The 23-year-old didn’t go away with England, but it seems he’s now back in the mix ahead of an important run of games, and it will be interesting to see if Maresca throws him straight back in or puts him on the bench with the trip to Munich in mind on Wednesday.
