No matter what happens this season, Mohamed Salah's future lies away from Liverpool.

The Anfield legend is going to leave the club at the end of the 2026-27 season after he agreed to mutually terminate his current contract.

The attacker had been a fraction of his former self this term and, since he had a bit of a public falling out with Arne Slot, both parties agreed that it was time to call it quits.

Most people expected the Egyptian King to take one last huge pay day with the Saudi Pro League and see out the final years of his career over there.

However, the last few weeks have made it seem like that isn't the case with a European giant now willing to offer the attacker €20 million-per-year if he accepts their deal.

Fenerbahce are willing to match Mohamed Salah's salary expectations after his Liverpool exit

The last few weeks have shown that there are still some European clubs that are interested in acquiring Salah's services this summer.

Salah may not have been at his best this season but that doesn't mean that he can't still do a job if needed to.

Despite this, his salary demands were fairly high with the Egyptian King asking for around €20 million-per-year from whichever club he chooses to join.

And, while this seemed to rule out most potential suitors, it seems like Fenerbahce are willing to meet those expectations and offer him a deal.

That is, according to a recent update from Turkish outlet FotoMac.

"Fenerbahçe, which will elect its new president at the extraordinary general assembly in the first week of June, is seeing its candidates preparing for the election while also continuing their transfer activities," they wrote.

"Both Aziz Yıldırım and Hakan Safi have begun negotiations with the agents of world-class players.

"Hakan Safi, who stated his desire to end Galatasaray's dominance and build a squad capable of competing in the Champions League, has reportedly set his sights most on Mohamed Salah.

"It has been claimed that a Fenerbahçe presidential candidate contacted the agent of the Egyptian player who announced his departure from Liverpool and offered a package including a net annual salary of 20 million euros plus bonuses.

"Salah, who has been playing for Liverpool since 2017, is wanted by Fenerbahçe, as well as Galatasaray and Saudi Arabian teams."

Mohamed Salah should stay in Europe and prove the doubters wrong

Even though the easy way out for Salah would be to take a massive payday from the Saudi Pro League or the MLS, it still feels like he has quite a bit to prove.

Indeed, he may have won every trophy possible while playing for Liverpool but, the 2025-26 season can't be his last in European football.

The attacker has been miles off the pace with some fans even begging Slot to drop him due to his lack of form.

If Salah moved to the MLS or the Saudi Pro League, he'd obviously be out of the limelight and have much less pressure on him but, if he can become an important player for a Turkish Super Lig club for just a season or two, it would add even more onto his legacy.

Of course, he'd be running the risk of tarnishing it even more but, in reality, it feels like he'd thrive as the main man in another European team.

And, since Fenerbahce would be willing to offer him around £17 million-per-year, it's still a more than acceptable salary and would make him even richer than he already is.
