Head coach Sean Dyche says he is waiting for updates as Nottingham Forest push to reinforce before Monday's 7pm deadline, with Evangelos Marinakis prepared to back the club.

According to Nottingham Post, a £35 million bid has been lodged for Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and talks have been held over Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Jose Sa.

Speaking before Thursday's Europa League tie against Ferencvaros, kick-off 8pm, Dyche said the club want good players and will act only if the right fees, contracts and situations align, adding that nothing is done until it is done.

Injuries are shaping plans. Another forward is needed with Chris Wood sidelined and speculation around Taiwo Awoniyi's future, while goalkeeper John Victor is expected to miss the rest of the season after knee surgery.

Full-back Nicolo Savona has a knee problem with the extent unclear. The search for a left-back was already under way as Oleksandr Zinckenko's loan from Arsenal is set to be cut short, as is Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz's.

Napoli loanee Lorenzo Lucca is the only January arrival so far. The 6ft 7in striker is ineligible on Thursday and could debut against Crystal Palace at the weekend.

Team-mate Nikola Milenkovic, who faced him in Serie A while at Fiorentina, described Lucca as a big, very good forward and said expectations apply to all of Forest's strikers.

Dyche added that Lucca's English is better than expected, he moves well, looks fit and seems determined to make his mark.
