Lorenzo Lucca cannot play for Nottingham Forest at Brentford this afternoon, as he was not registered in time for the 2pm kick-off, according to Nottingham Post.

Forest finalised the Italian forward’s season-long loan on Friday and he will spend the rest of the campaign at the City Ground. His paperwork arrived too late for inclusion against the Bees.

Igor Jesus returns from the knock that kept him out of Thursday’s 1-0 Europa League defeat at Braga, and he starts. He did not travel to Portugal but has recovered in time. Taiwo Awoniyi is the forward option on the bench.

Attacking reinforcements have been a focus this month. Chris Wood remains sidelined after knee surgery and Arnaud Kalimuendo has joined Eintracht Frankfurt on loan. With Awoniyi out of favour amid transfer speculation, Jesus has been left to lead the line.

Lucca cannot face Ferencvaros on Thursday in the Europa League, so the earliest he could debut is next Sunday against Crystal Palace. He described joining Forest and the chance to play in the Premier League as an honour, and said he wants to repay the club’s trust with goals.
