Victor Kristiansen could leave the Foxes this summer with the Toffees interested
Premier League outfit Everton are tracking Leicester City left-back Victor Kristiansen ahead of the upcoming transfer window, following the Foxes' relegation to the Championship, according to a new report.
The Foxes' drop back to the second-tier was confirmed on Sunday after a 1-0 defeat to top-flight leaders Liverpool at the King Power Stadium.
A summer of change beckons for the East Midlands outfit, with current boss Ruud van Nistelrooy's future uncertain following a torrid run of form that has seen them consigned to relegation.
Numerous incomings and outgoings are expected, and Danish full-back Kristiansen could be one of the first to depart the club this summer with the Toffees believed to be interested and him unlikely to want to drop into the second-tier.
Everton have enjoyed a strong resurgence of their form since David Moyes replaced Sean Dyche in the dugout at Goodison Park back in January, and they have successfully avoided relegation to the Championship this season with relative ease.
Leicester have not been so lucky, with van Nistelrooy unable to turn the tide of their poor results over the last few months. They have conceded 73 goals in the Premier League this season, which works out as the second-highest in the whole of the league, but Kristiansen has impressed at times despite their poor overall showings.
According to a new report from TEAMtalk, the Toffees are keeping tabs on left-back Kristiansen ahead of the summer window, and they are big admirers of the 22-year-old.
The Foxes are set to be forced into selling several of their stars following relegation, much like they did in 2023, and Everton are keen to strengthen at left-back this summer.
Vitaliy Mykolenko has impressed in this campaign, but he is Moyes' only natural left-back option as it stands, so Kristiansen could provide some important depth if he joins soon.
Kristiansen has been contracted to Leicester for over two years now, after they smashed the record fee for a Danish Superliga player to sign him for £17 million from FC Copenhagen in January 2023.
The 22-year-old featured in both the Champions League and Europa Conference League after breaking onto the first-team scene at his boyhood club in 2020, and also helped the club win back-to-back Superliga titles in 2022 and 2023.
He made 14 appearances in league and cup in his first half-season in the East Midlands, but was unable to help Leicester avoid a surprise relegation to the Championship that year.
It came as little surprise to see him avoid playing in the Championship last season, as he moved on loan to Serie A side Bologna and was a key part of their squad that clinched European qualification for the first time since 1965, while also making 34 appearances in all competitions.
Kristiansen rejoined his Foxes teammates at the start of this season, with the club back in the Premier League, but he has been unable to help them avoid another relegation with 28 more appearances so far.
He has been their first-choice left-back throughout the campaign, and despite being dropped from the Denmark squad for the Foxes' poor performances, he has been praised for his attitude and commitment in the face of adversity.
It certainly seems likely that he will leave the King Power Stadium again this summer, but whether that will be on loan or on a permanent deal remains to be seen. Everton look set to make an approach, but he is contracted at Leicester until 2028, so would likely command a sizeable fee to sign full-time.
