Everton are launching a Hall of Fame for the women’s team

Everton are lunching a new Hall of Fame for the women’s team that will feature past icons to have played for the Toffees.

The new initiative has been designed to honour past players and managers from Everton that have left a significant mark on the club.

None of the inductees have been confirmed yet, with a selection panel deciding who will be first in the Hall of Fame before Everton’s next WSL fixture on Friday night.

The selection panel will include various faces from around Everton including journalists, past players and coaches.

The first five iconic Toffees to be inducted into the Hall of Fame will be revealed before the London City Lionesses clash on Friday.

Those inducted will be invited down to the game where they will be given a warm reception at Goodison Park before kick off.

All of the Hall of Fame stars will remain in Goodison forever, with their images put up in the stadium to be honoured by fans.

Hannah Forshaw, Chief Executive Officer of Everton Women, said: “The launch of the Everton Women’s Hall of Fame is a hugely significant moment in our journey. Everton Women has produced and been home to some of the game’s most iconic players and characters and it is only right that we recognise their innovations, contributions and exceptional performances by ensuring they are celebrated for generations to come. Goodison Park, our new permanent home, provides the perfect stage to honour our very own legends.”

Julie Makin, Chair of the Everton Women’s Supporters’ Club, added: “As supporters, we have been privileged to witness so many incredible players wear the Everton shirt over the years. The Hall of Fame is a fantastic way to pay tribute to their achievements and ensure their legacy is kept alive for both existing fans and new generations discovering Everton Women.”

What next for Everton women?

Everton lost their last game 2-0 at home to Tottenham, but there isn’t long until they can make a mends for their poor result.

The Toffees play against newly-promoted London City Lionesses on Friday night in a game they should bounce back in.

While their loss to Spurs came against an in-form side, the Lionesses have struggled since arriving in the WSL and they have already conceded nine goals in two games.
