Everton have begun contract talks with Jordan Pickford in what TalkSport describe as a major boost for David Moyes and his long-term plans at Goodison Park.

Pickford, 31, has two years left on his current deal and is “believed to be settled and keen to sign fresh terms.” While no formal offer has been tabled yet, discussions are at an “early and informal stage.”
New owners The Friedkin Group are determined to keep one of England’s most experienced goalkeepers on Merseyside for at least another two years. The club’s commitment to stability is clear, with Jarrad Branthwaite signing a new five-year deal in July as part of their long-term project.

Pickford is already one of Everton’s highest earners, with wages over £120,000 per week. Everton intend to “stick to their wage structure,” meaning a significant pay rise is unlikely. However, performance-related incentives could make the new deal lucrative if the Toffees qualify for European football.
The Friedkin Group are also planning to rebuff any approaches in 2026 for Branthwaite, who is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury.
Pickford’s importance goes beyond his shot-stopping. He is “an important leader and personality on and off the pitch,” and shares a strong relationship with Moyes, who handed him his first-team debut at Sunderland.

His performances this season underline that influence. He has yet to concede a goal at Everton’s new Hill Dickinson Stadium, saving a penalty in the 2-0 win over Brighton and helping secure a clean sheet in the 0-0 draw against Aston Villa.
Securing Pickford’s future feels crucial for Everton at a time when the club are trying to build consistency under Moyes and stabilise after years of uncertainty. Pickford has been nothing short of exceptional this season and is a true leader in a dressing room that needs experienced voices.
The fact that the Friedkin Group are pushing for early talks signals intent. They are not waiting until the final year of his contract to act, which is reassuring for supporters who have seen key players depart too easily in the past. Incentive-driven contracts also make sense, rewarding players for European qualification aligns everyone’s ambitions.
With Branthwaite tied down and Pickford next in line, it feels like Everton are laying strong foundations for the future. Fans will now hope that other cornerstones of the team are also retained to create a spine that can take the club back into European contention. Stability breeds success, and this is a positive step forward.
