Fred Back on Premier League Radar as Everton Plot Ambitious Swoop

Everton Eyeing Experienced Midfield Addition

Fenerbahçe’s midfielder Fred has emerged as a serious transfer target for Premier League side Everton, according to Turkish outlet Sozcu. The Merseyside club are reportedly prepared to pay a significant fee to lure the Brazilian back to English football after his impressive stint in Istanbul.

Moyes Prioritises Midfield Reinforcements

“It has been reported that Technical Director David Moyes has prioritised the Fred transfer in order to strengthen the team’s midfield.” The former Manchester United man has enjoyed a resurgence with Fenerbahçe, putting in two solid seasons that have reignited interest from the Premier League. Moyes, seeking experience and control in the middle of the park, appears to see Fred as a solution to Everton’s midfield inconsistency.

Fenerbahçe’s Asking Price Revealed

Fenerbahçe are reportedly holding out for “a transfer fee of at least 18 million Euros for the experienced football player, who has a contract with Fenerbahçe until 2027.” The Turkish giants are not expected to budge easily but acknowledge that “transfer talks may gain momentum in the coming days.”

Return to England on the Cards?

“Fred, who has shown successful performances in the last 2 seasons with the Fenerbahçe jersey, is facing the possibility of returning to the Premier League with offers from England.” With Everton keen and funds seemingly available, a deal could progress quickly as both clubs enter critical pre-season planning phases.

Our View – EPL Index

As an Everton supporter, this report certainly sparks hope. While recent transfer windows have often disappointed, the idea that we are targeting someone with Fred’s pedigree is encouraging. He may not have set the Premier League alight during his spell at Manchester United, but he brings energy, experience and an ability to dictate tempo—qualities we have sorely lacked.

David Moyes knows the league and knows what he wants, and if he is “prioritising” Fred, that is a clear signal we are looking to move decisively. At 31, Fred is no long-term project, but he could offer the sort of calm and control that makes players around him better.

The reported €18 million fee is hefty, especially with Financial Fair Play concerns lingering, but if we can negotiate effectively, Fred could be the statement signing that kickstarts a new chapter. It all depends now on whether Everton back Moyes with swift and smart action in the market.
