Ex-Palermo goalkeeper: “Gasperini always respected Dybala.” | OneFootball

Former Chievoverona and Palermo goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino looked back on the relationship between Gasperini and Dybala ahead of their reunion at Roma.

In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sorrentino discussed Gasperini’s relationship with the Argentine during the 2012-13 season.

“It was a strange year that ended with relegation,” he said. “Back then, Paulo was a different player. But Gasperini has always had respect for him.”

“Now more than ten years have passed and I don’t know what can happen, they are both different than they were then. For a football mastermind like Gasperini, players of Dybala’s value are always important.”

“It’s hard to say but if he made Ilicic run and become stronger, with someone like Paulo he can do even better. Also because Paulo’s quality is hard to find around. Gasp will certainly respect him.”

“I think Gasp will do very well at Roma; he is very excited and can’t wait to start. The team is also good.”
