The chaotic summer at Hillsborough goes on.

Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri is understood to have finally accepted a bid from an unnamed party to buy the club, although it's now almost a week since those reports emerged, and there's been a slightly alarming silence on that front ever since.

Owls boss Danny Rohl has now returned to the club, despite evidently seeking a move away over the last few weeks and coming under an apparent mutiny from large sections of the squad, and now appears set to lead the club into next season as things stand.

So, to a certain degree, some issues appear to be well on their way to being resolved, but one major one persists - players handing in their notice.

It was revealed by The Telegraph on 2 July that as many as six Sheffield Wednesday players - the identities of which remain unknown - had handed in their notice over unpaid wages.

Indeed, the club were issued with major transfer restrictions in mid-June after failing to pay wages on time, with Chansiri having failed to pay players' wages both on time and in full for both March and May this year.

However, in a report from The Star earlier this week, it's now understood that the majority - if not all - of the money owed to both players and staff has now been settled, but that isn't the end of the story.

Football League World has exclusively been informed that Sheffield Wednesday won't be appealing against the six players who have handed in their notice relating to those unpaid wages, and as such, it now appears as though those players will be free to leave the club this summer.

Sheffield Wednesday need resolutions ASAP

Losing these six players, especially as free agents, will hurt the club both from a squad depth perspective, and financially.

However, it does at least present the chance to close that specific chapter in what has been an unprecedented summer of disruption and chaos at Hillsborough.

Should the club have appealed against the six players, that would mean this situation would continue to drag on further, and with the start of the 25/26 season drawing ever closer, it may well be in the best interests of the club to move on so that they know what they're working with.

Wednesday supporters have endured enough sagas involving their club this summer alone to last a lifetime for fans of many clubs. They've had their fill, they now want to see resoultions.

They want to see the club's ownership situation resolved with a successful takeover. They want to see their managerial situation regarding Rohl's future resolved one way or another. They want to know which players are committed to the cause, and will be representing their football club next season.

So, whilst losing six players from the squad will sting, and few Owls fans will blame any of them for wanting to seek an escape route out of the club this summer, it does at least provide the chance for everyone involved to move on from this situation.
