Exclusive: Stan Collymore speaks on Nottingham Forest’s Premier League survival chances

It has been a rollecroaster season so far for Nottingham Forest. Already onto their third manager of the season, they’re facing a battle against relegation.

Nuno Espirito Santo was sacked after a fallout with the board, before Ange Postecoglou came in to disastrous effect, and now responsibilities lie with Sean Dyche.

Forest currently sit 17th in the table, and five points clear of West Ham United in 18th place.

Recent weeks have seen them pick up crucial points against the Hammers and league-leaders Arsenal.

Former Nottingham Forest star Stan Collymore, speaking exclusively to EPL Index, shared his thoughts on their chances of survival and more…

Will Forest stay up?

“I think Nottingham Forest will stay up,” began Collymore, “I think they have the best squad out of the sides in the bottom half of the table.”

“Last season they performed brilliantly and the squad hasn’t changed too much since then,” continued Collymore, “They haven’t been scoring goals. Chris Wood has been injured most of the season and Igor Jesus hasn’t quite clicked yet.”

“I like Jesus though and I think if Callum Hudson-Odoi and Morgan Gibbs-White can keep putting things on a plate, then he will come good,” said Collymore.

Is Sean Dyche the man for the job?

“I just about think that Sean Dyche is the right man for the job,” said Collymore, “But with that being said, we all know what the owner is like.”

“The owner doesn’t have to worry about the players because he knows that he has a good squad at the club,” continued Collymore, “It’s just about finding the right manager to get the most out of those players.”

After positive results against West Ham United and Arsenal, Dyche’s side now face a pivotal run of games against the likes of Brentford, Crystal Palace, Leeds United and Wolves.

A good points haul from those games could put them on the verge of Premier League survival.
