Arne Slot has a lot of questions and concerns to answer next season.

The Dutchman has performed well below the expected standards for a team of Liverpool's calibre this term with the club only just holding onto the Champions League places.

They could've guaranteed themselves a place in Europe's premier competition if they managed to beat Aston Villa over the weekend but, that unfortunately wasn't the case.

Many fans expected Liverpool to be one of the best teams in the world and for them to easily be able to retain the top flight title.

That evidently hasn't happened and now, the Reds' fanbase are demanding that Slot is relieved of his duties.

And now after the disappointments of the current campaign, a fresh update about his situation has been shared by Fabrizio Romano.

Fenway Sports Group are scheduled to have an end of season meeting with Arne Slot about Liverpool

Since it was made clear that Liverpool weren't going to be title contenders, fans have been questioning why Slot was still the man in charge.

Granted, he did manage to bring the Premier League title back to L4 last term but, even that can only take him so far.

Xabi Alonso, Andoni Iraola and even Luis Enrique have all been linked with an Anfield switch over the last couple of weeks.

However, even though it doesn't seem like the Dutchman isn't going to be relieved of his duties, that doesn't mean his position isn't under scrutiny with a new update from Romano detailing exactly what is going to happen once the 2025-26 season is finished.

"Obviously in general at Liverpool, don’t forget, and let me finish with this line, the end of season review at Liverpool because there will be one," he said via his YouTube channel.

"I told you that several times. It is going to involve the players, the management, and also the head coach Arne Slot.

"At the moment, Liverpool have not reached out to other managers. They have always insisted that they want to continue with Arne Slot.

"Obviously this review is still going to be an important moment, still going to be crucial for the future at Liverpool.

"So we wait for the most important people at the club to decide what they want to do."

Arne Slot may need to fight his case during the meeting with FSG

Even though FSG haven't been in contact with any other managers yet, it still feels like Slot's job could end up being on the line.

Indeed, it now feels likely that the Anfield outfit will be keeping the Dutchman at the helm, for now at least.

However, if Slot goes through another summer transfer window and spends loads of money and still fails to improve his teams performances, some serious questions will need to be asked.

It's clear that the results from the 2025-26 campaign have been way below the standards expected but, for some reason, it feels like Slot still has all the support in the world.

That was, until the end of season meeting was mentioned. It's clear that the Reds' fanbase will be expecting results next term and, if they don't get them, a massive uprising could be on the cards which could really throw a spanner into FSG's works.
