Fabrizio Romano says £100m star "open" to Man United transfer in update on two top midfielders

The Italy international has shone in the Premier League and looks like he could be ready to move up to the next level, with Man Utd joined by Arsenal and Manchester City as admirers.
That’s according to Romano in his latest post on X, formerly Twitter, as he also provided some fresh insight into the situation of Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, who is also of interest to some of the same clubs…
“Manchester United have Sandro Tonali very high on their shortlist for June, as reported. The player would be open to the move,” Romano said.
“Elliot Anderson, another name on shortlist but Manchester City are still ahead — with very serious interest.
“Man City and Arsenal, both also informed on Tonali situation.”
Our view is that Tonali would likely be too expensive to represent an ideal signing for United.
Even if the former AC Milan man has performed well for Newcastle and could give MUFC an upgrade on their current midfielders, someone like Anderson is younger, has a higher potential, and would cost a similar price.
