Excitement is building in Madrid as FC Bayern take on Real Madrid this evening, with fans getting into the mood for the Champions League clash hours before kick-off.
Around 4,000 supporters of the German record champions are expected to attend the Champions League quarter-final first leg at the Santiago Bernabéu, but Bayern fans are already attracting attention in the Spanish capital before the stadium visit.
A fan march through Madrid had already formed in the afternoon, leading the supporters together towards the stadium. The action serves as a joint warm-up for the clash and ensures loud support in the streets of the city even before kick-off.
Away trips in the top flight are a special experience for many fans, as well as the exciting sporting situation and a Munich team in absolute top form. The turnout is correspondingly high, even beyond the officially reported ticket numbers.
The march is organized by the umbrella organization „Club No. 12“. The fans met in the early evening at the Plaza de Castilla before making their way to the stadium as one.
The active fan scene made a clear appeal to those taking part beforehand: „On a good day, we can lay the foundations for progressing in Madrid. The emphasis is on WE. Be loud, be persistent. Less videos for grandma and grandpa or Insta, more clapping, hooking in, jumping.“
The route covers around two kilometers and is intended to lead the supporters to the Bernabéu as a whole. The aim is to create an intense atmosphere before kick-off.
There are also plans for the hosts. The Real Madrid fans want to welcome their team at the stadium and a large-scale choreography has also been announced, setting the stage for an atmospheric clash long before kick-off.
