FC Bayern is once again getting involved in climate protection with a wide range of activities as part of the 2025 Bavarian Climate Weeks, with its football and basketball teams and its Allianz Arena. The club and Allianz Arena München Stadion GmbH have been members of the Bavarian Climate Alliance since 2015 and, together with strong partners, are committed to the climate protection goals of the Bavarian state government, thereby also strengthening the partnership between the state and civil society.
Jan-Christian Dreesen, FC Bayern CEO: “Climate protection is not an option for FC Bayern, but an obligation. And it concerns us all. It is up to us to make the right decisions for future generations and to lead by example. We are aware of this responsibility and are continuously analysing how our locations, such as Säbener Straße, the Allianz Arena and the FC Bayern Campus, can be operated in a more climate-friendly manner. From men's and women's football to basketball, we are actively committed to climate protection in line with our sustainability strategy ‘Mitnand’ as one FC Bayern.”
The Bavarian Climate Weeks are a state-wide series of events initiated by the Bavarian State Ministry of the Environment and Consumer Protection. The aim is to raise awareness of climate protection among citizens, companies, organisations and institutions. FC Bayern is using its reach and influence to encourage its fans and partners to commit to sustainability. Climate Weeks aim to show that every contribution counts. To mark the occasion, FC Bayern's sustainability department has teamed up with partner MAN to develop a competition quiz, with a signed ball and scarf up for grabs for participants. Take part here now:
Another visible highlight this year are the climate strips at the Allianz Arena, which will light up the façade in the colours of Bavaria's temperature development on 9 and 12 October – from blue for cooler years to red for the heat of the present. The Arena will be illuminated using modern LED technology and 100% green electricity. This visual representation makes the effects of climate change tangible and encourages reflection. This special illumination already attracted a lot of attention last year. It will return again in 2025 as a symbol of shared climate awareness.
Jürgen Muth, Allianz Arena München Stadion GmbH managing director: “The Allianz Arena is sending a clear signal for climate protection, whether through its impressive climate strip lighting or the planned forward-looking project for an innovative e-charging park for e-buses and trucks directly at the Arena. Such projects show how modern infrastructure and strong partnerships will work together to create sustainable solutions and advance us on the path to greater climate protection.”
FC Bayern is working with partners such as MAN, who have been strongly committed to climate protection for many years. With its innovative e-fleet and forward-looking mobility solutions, MAN is actively contributing to the sustainable transformation of transport. One example of this is the planned charging park for eTrucks and eBuses at the Allianz Arena, in which MAN is playing a key role. The charging park demonstrates how electric mobility can work in large-scale event operations and is an important step towards a more climate-friendly future.

Climate protection will also be highlighted in a sporting context at FC Bayern Basketball's home game against Bamberg Baskets on 12 October at BMW Park. Plans include lighting up the LED floor at BMW Park – powered by 100% green electricity – interactive activities on the concourse to provide information about climate protection, and interviews with Minister of State Thorsten Glauber and Benny Folkmann, managing director of FC Bayern e.V., who will highlight the club's commitment to the cause. Fans can actively participate, learn more about sustainable mobility and energy, and experience how climate protection can be integrated into everyday sports.
Thorsten Glauber, Bavarian Minister for the Environment and Consumer Protection: “An event like this is exactly the right stage to talk about such an important topic as climate protection. Sport inspires enthusiasm, and basketball is pure emotion, especially in this all-Bavarian classic. We want to transfer these positive feelings to the topic of climate. Just as FC Bayern wants to become champions, we want to master climate change together.”
Adrian Sarmiento, FC Bayern Basketball commercial director: “With this campaign on a game day, FC Bayern Basketball is sending a clear signal for climate and environmental protection. We not only want to raise awareness but also make a concrete commitment to Munich and the region. Climate protection is an important issue for us – one that we are promoting together with our fans.”
Finally, climate protection will also be the focus of attention at the Champions League match between FC Bayern Women and Juventus on 16 October at the FC Bayern Campus (kick-off: 9pm CEST). In addition to information about Climate Weeks, there will be a half-time event with mascot Mia to raise awareness of environmental and sustainability issues.
