While many Bayern stars will be on duty for their national teams in the coming days, the club management is continuing to work intensively on planning for the future. In addition to ongoing talks about contract extensions – above all with Dayot Upamecano – those responsible are also focusing on young talents in Europe.
Following the recent scouting trip to Denmark, where Franculino Djú from FC Midtjylland was observed, the Bayern scouts have now moved on to Croatia.
As the Croatian portal Sportske Novosti reports, FC Bayern scouts were at the stadium during Hajduk Split’s 2:0 win over NK Osijek to take a closer look at Luka Hodak.
The 19-year-old defensive all-rounder is regarded as one of the biggest discoveries of the current HNL season. Hodak only made the leap from the U19s to the professional squad in the summer – he is now a regular on the right side of defence and impresses with his athleticism, intelligence and precise passing.
His versatility makes him particularly exciting: in addition to the right-back position, Hodak can also be deployed as a defensive midfielder.

Bayern were not the only ones watching the youngster on the ground. Scouts from other top clubs in Italy, Spain and England also followed Hodak’s performance at the Poljud Stadium. Word of his promotion to the Hajduk Split first team has long since spread.
Hodak is still under contract with Hajduk until 2029, having only signed his first professional contract a few months ago. Nevertheless, according to Sportske Novosti, the club is said to be open to talks – a transfer could become an issue in the summer of 2026 at the latest if a top club makes an attractive offer.
Hodak would be another building block in FC Bayern’s long-term squad strategy, with the record champions increasingly focusing on talented young players with potential such as Lennart Karl and Tom Bischof.
Whether the Croatian will actually become a candidate for Munich remains to be seen – Bayern’s scouting network is certainly more active than it has been for a long time.
