Felipe Anderson took a step forward in his recovery by joining part of Palmeiras’ group session on Friday, as the squad prepared to face Guarani at 20:30 Brasília time on Sunday.

According to Globo.com, he remains in physical transition and acted as a neutral player during the drills, a role with reduced contact that is often used for players returning from injury.

Palmeiras reconvened the day after beating Internacional in the Brasileiro, then turned focus to Guarani, the final round of the Paulista first phase.

The starters from Porto Alegre followed an indoor recovery programme, while the rest worked on pressing and build-up play and finished with a six against six on a reduced pitch.

The line-up will be set on Saturday, with a rotated side likely. Qualification for the knockout stage is already secured, allowing rest after three straight matches with the same team against Vitória, Corinthians and Internacional.

Palmeiras sit second on 15 points, one behind Novorizontino. The quarter-finals are single-leg on 22 February, with home advantage for the higher seed. In the Brasileiro, they face Fluminense on 25 February at Arena Barueri.
