FIFA Payments for the World Cup: Here’s How Much FC Bayern Is Getting

FC Bayern is set to cash in big time for the 2026 World Cup. Despite the German national team’s early exit, the record champion is among the top four earners worldwide in terms of FIFA compensation payments.

It’s not just the national associations that earn money during a World Cup. The clubs that loan out their professional players are also compensated by FIFA, the world governing body. For the 2026 World Cup, FIFA is distributing funds to more than 600 clubs worldwide—and FC Bayern is among the biggest beneficiaries.

As an analysis by Deutsche Kreditbank (DKB) shows, the German record champion will receive 2.30 million euros. This figure is based on 18 players loaned out: 17 were in the tournament from the start, while Ismael Saibari joined the squad on July 1. In a global comparison, this puts the Munich club in fourth place.

Only three clubs rank ahead of Bayern. The English runner-up, Manchester City, receives the most at 3.08 million euros, followed by Champions League winner Paris Saint-Germain (2.49 million euros) and final opponent Arsenal (2.42 million euros).

How the payments are broken down

The compensation payments are based on how long a club’s players are in action at the World Cup. Money is paid for each day a player is available. However, the daily rate is lower than initially thought: instead of the originally expected $11,000, it is apparently only $5,000 per day.

Things could have gone even better for Bayern. In an initial assessment by DKB following the conclusion of the group stage, the club was still in second place. However, due to the German national team’s elimination in the round of 32, the record champions slipped in the final ranking. Behind the Munich team are FC Barcelona (2.20 million euros) and Club World Cup champion Chelsea FC (2.12 million euros). Notably far behind is Atlético Madrid in eighth place (1.92 million euros)—even though the club provided the most finalists with ten players.

Bayern clearly leads the national rankings

In a German comparison, the record champions are the benchmark. Borussia Dortmund receives 1.54 million euros, while Bayer Leverkusen comes in at 1.42 million euros. Eintracht Frankfurt (1.17 million euros) and TSG Hoffenheim (1.05 million euros) also break the million-mark—but neither comes close to Bayern’s figures.

In a league comparison, the Bundesliga ranks second with a total of 13.29 million euros. Only the English Premier League ranks higher, with 26.34 million euros—more than double what the German clubs receive. Despite Barcelona, Atlético, and Real Madrid, Spain’s La Liga ranks only third with 12.19 million euros.
