Host nation United States will kick off their Group D campaign against Paraguay this evening in Los Angeles.

Mauricio Pochettino will get his first crack at World Cup action as they face off with South American outfit Paraguay. 

The Group D clash will take place at Los Angeles' futuristic stadium, SoFi Stadium, a place the United States men's national team have become familiar with in recent years.

You just can't look away from Milan forward Christian Pulisic. The U.S. talisman will surely be the catalyst to any success at the tournament for Pochettino's side this summer. 

Since making the move to Milan from Chelsea in 2023, the Pennsylvania native has racked up a superb scoring haul of 42 goals and 27 assists in 134 appearances. 

While this matchup features plenty of talent, including Folarin Balogun, Diego Gómez, and Weston McKennie, a five-star showing from Pulisic could be the difference between the two outfits. 

For Paraguay their big hope was around 22-year-old Julio Enciso, however an injury pre-tournament means he may not start this opening match.

Instead it's box-to-box midfielder Diego Gomez who will provide the energy from midfield that could get the South Americans over the line here
