Filipe Luís has been dismissed by Flamengo hours after an 8-0 win over Madureira that secured a place in the Campeonato Carioca final.
The club said in a statement that he would not continue as of Tuesday, adding that assistant Ivan Palanco and fitness coach Diogo Linhares also depart.
The board took the decision after the match. He did not survive the club’s worst start to a season in 10 years, losing the Supercopa do Brasil to Corinthians and the Recopa Sudamericana to Lanús of Argentina.
Filipe leaves after 101 games with a 69.9% record, comprising 63 wins, 23 draws and 15 defeats, five of them in 2026.
He departs as the club’s second most successful coach, level with Jorge Jesus and Flávio Costa, on five trophies, winning the 2024 Copa do Brasil, the 2025 Supercopa, the 2025 Carioca, the 2025 Libertadores and the 2025 Brasileirão.
This was his first coaching role. He began with the under-17s in March 2024 after retiring, winning the Copa Rio, then moved to the under-20s in June, where he won the category’s world title. On 30 September he was appointed to the senior side to replace Tite.
