Sunderland are shaping their summer window plans as they aim to build on a strong first season back in the Premier League, and Championship talent is firmly on the radar. While recent additions Noah Sadiki and Habib Diarra underlined the value of looking overseas, the Black Cats are also assessing options closer to home.

According to Sunderland Echo, five players from the second tier could fit the brief.

Leicester City winger Jeremy Monga, 16, made 29 senior appearances in his first full campaign and is already an England Under-19 international. As it stands, Leicester have suffered another relegation into League One, so he would not be in the Championship next season, and any move would need patience on his development.

Millwall forward Mihailo Ivanovic, 21, has scored nine times this season and influenced games beyond the numbers, offering potential cover and competition for Brian Brobbey. He could be a Premier League player next season if the Lions complete promotion.

Swansea City’s Zan Vipotnik has struck 23 goals in 43 league matches, marking him out as one of the division’s most ruthless finishers. Interest elsewhere and a sizeable fee are likely, but he could suit Sunderland’s profile.

Sheffield United midfielder Ollie Arblaster has returned from a serious cruciate ligament injury to make 21 appearances this season. A standout before that setback, the academy graduate still has significant room to grow.

At Queens Park Rangers, former Chelsea prospect Harvey Vale joined on a free in February last year after loans at Hull City and Bristol Rovers. The Republic of Ireland international has produced four goals and 19 assists in 31 outings, troubling full-backs across the league.
