A look back at some of Carlos Tevez’s best performances for Manchester City.

The Argentine joined the Club on 13 July 2009 after spending two seasons on loan at Manchester United, sparking the now famous ‘Welcome to Manchester’ sign erected near Deansgate.

He’d spend four seasons at the Etihad Stadium, scoring 74 goals in 148 appearances as a key part of the City side who won the FA Cup in 2011 and our first Premier League title the following season.

Winning the Club’s Player of the Season award in his first year as well as the Premier League Golden Boot and a spot in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year in 2010/11, Tevez’s time at City was packed with memorable moments.

Below are some of the main ones that spring to mind…

City 2-1 United – 19 January 2010

The Blues would ultimately miss out on a spot in that year’s League Cup final, but Tevez took centre stage in the first leg of our last four clash with United.

Our rivals, who’d edged a 4-3 thriller at Old Trafford earlier that season, took the lead through Ryan Giggs, but a Tevez penalty drew us level before the break.

The Argentine imitated a talking motion with his hand in celebration but still had plenty to say in a frenetic derby at the Etihad Stadium.

Indeed, when United failed to clear a City corner, Vincent Kompany clipped the ball back across goal with Tevez beating Edwin Van Der Sar and Patrice Evra to it for the win.

Another memorable celebration followed, with Tevez cupping his ears in front of the visiting bench.

Chelsea 2-4 City – 27 February 2010

Tevez’s brace at the Bridge helped City earn a memorable win over that year's Premier League champions-elect.

Chelsea looked like they’d take a one-goal lead in at the break after a smart Frank Lampard finish, but when they failed to deal with a speculative long ball, Tevez sprung into action.

Bustling his way through the Chelsea defence, the Argentine poked an effort past Hilario to draw us level, with Craig Bellamy handing us the lead soon after the restart.

Tevez then fired home from the spot with 15 to play after Juliano Belletti had brought Gareth Barry down inside the area, receiving his marching orders in the process, with Michael Ballack then also sent off to leave Chelsea down to nine.

And City took full advantage, with Bellamy making it four on the counter attack to ensure Lampard’s stoppage time effort was a mere consolation.

City 3-0 Liverpool – August 2010

Another double from Tevez helped City lay down an early marker in what would eventually be a memorable season for both the Argentine and his Club.

The Blues raced into the lead inside 15 minutes when Gareth Barry fired home a James Milner cutback before Tevez put the game to bed in the second half.

Our number 32 pounced on a Micah Richards knockdown to acrobatically divert the ball beyond Pepe Reina, doubling City’s advantage, before a typically clinical penalty wrapped up the points.

The forward’s first two goals of the season, Tevez would go on to win the Premier League Golden Boot in 2010/11 alongside Dimitar Berbatov and earn a spot in the PFA Team of the Year.

City 3-0 Stoke – 17 May 2011

A rerun of the FA Cup final that’d taken place just three days prior, two moments of genius from Tevez earned City the points in a party atmosphere at the Etihad Stadium.

The Blues’ 1-0 win over Stoke at Wembley had secured our first major silverware in 35 years and we picked up where we’d left off with a convincing triumph over the Potters.

Tevez was the architect, playing a neat one-two with James Milner before wriggling through several Stoke challenges and firing into the top corner for our first.

Joleon Lescott made it two early in the second half, before the Argentine completed the scoring with the best of the lot.

A vicious, curling free-kick from close to 30 yards was the perfect way for Tevez to grab his 20th and final Premier League goal of the season.

Norwich 1-6 City – 14 April 2012

Tevez’s well-documented hiatus from the City squad had been brought to an end in February 2012, and the Argentine’s outstanding display at Carrow Road helped the Blues on our way to a first-ever Premier League title.

Our number 32 opened the scoring with a rocket from distance, before reacting fastest to a spilled Yaya Toure effort to head home City’s third of the afternoon.

And he’d complete his hat-trick just seven minutes later, forcing a mistake in the Norwich defence with typically industrious pressing before rounding John Ruddy and tapping into an empty net.

Another iconic Tevez celebration followed, with the Argentine’s golf swing a nod to his five months away from the squad that season.
