Flamengo confirm Lucas Paquetá return in record Brazilian transfer | OneFootball

Flamengo have signed Lucas Paquetá from West Ham on a five-year contract, a record for Flamengo and for Brazilian football. The 28-year-old is expected in Rio de Janeiro on Thursday morning.

The club said in a post that the move is historic, thanking sponsors, members and the Nação Rubro-Negra for making his return possible. Flamengo will pay 42 million euros (R$ 260 million).

After weeks of talks, agreement with West Ham was reached on Wednesday. An academy product, Paquetá returns eight years after leaving the club.

If his name appears on the CBF’s BID by Friday, he could debut on Sunday against Corinthians in the Supercopa do Brasil decider.

Paquetá sat out recent West Ham matches with back discomfort and asked to miss training and games as he focused on returning to Brazil. Flamengo believe the issue will not stop him playing.

In 2025/26 he has played 19 games for West Ham, scoring five with one assist. His last outing was on 6 January, a defeat to Nottingham Forest. He had been a regular starter.
