Flamengo's build-up to Wednesday's meeting with Cruzeiro features a key absence for the visitors, a ratings high in Rio and praise for Leonardo Jardim.

According to Coluna Do Fla, Cruzeiro midfielder Lucas Romero will miss the Maracanã fixture on Wednesday 11 after fracturing his left rib in the Minas Gerais final against Atlético-MG on Sunday 8. He will not travel to Rio.

The injury occurred at 36 minutes of the second half. Romero will undergo conservative treatment, with no surgery required, and the process has begun in the club's health and performance department. No recovery timescale has been disclosed.

Flamengo's third straight Campeonato Carioca title over Fluminense delivered a 2026 ratings peak for Globo in Rio, reaching 26 points during the final, the highest figure for that time slot this year. The broadcaster's overall 2026 high also came with Flamengo's 1-0 win over Vasco, which registered 29 points.

In the dressing room, Bruno Henrique has lauded Jardim, describing the Portuguese as a coach operating at a very high level. The forward praised the new boss in the wake of the state triumph.
