Flamengo set date for Saúl Ñíguez to resume training | OneFootball

According to Coluna Do Fla, Flamengo have set a timetable for Saúl Ñíguez to return to training next month as he continues his injury recovery. The club are working behind the scenes on the comebacks of several sidelined players, with the Spaniard among them.

Ñíguez underwent an operation on his left heel and has not featured since the end of the Intercontinental Cup in December. His last involvement included taking a penalty against Paris Saint-Germain.

The midfielder joined Flamengo last season on a free after ending his deal with Atlético de Madrid.

Under Filipe Luís, the 31-year-old has featured in 24 matches, registering two assists and no goals.

While Ñíguez continues his recovery, Flamengo prepare to face Cruzeiro at the Maracanã on Wednesday, 11 March, at 21:30 Brasília time, in the Campeonato Brasileiro.
