Flamengo will use about 10 days of the FIFA international window for a special programme, mixing rest with sessions to refine Leonardo Jardim’s ideas with the squad.
This week’s plan gives the players Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 off, then a return on Wednesday 25 at 16:00 at Ninho do Urubu. According to GE, next week they are expected to train on Monday and Tuesday, then travel on Wednesday for the Red Bull Bragantino match.
Training continues on Thursday 26 and Friday 27 at 10:00, followed by a rest day on Saturday 28. The group then works again on Sunday 29 at 10:00 at the training centre. All times are Brasília time.
The break is intended to give the squad time to absorb Jardim’s methods after a congested run since his arrival, the first stretch focused on work and preparation.
After the draw with Corinthians on Sunday 22, the coach said the plan is to rest for two days, then improve processes, build up the condition of less-used players and begin preparations for the next game.
Flamengo’s next game is scheduled for 2 April against Red Bull Bragantino, kicking off at 21:30 in Brasília, at Estádio Municipal Cicero De Souza Marques in São Paulo.
