Flamengo step up for Botafogo as De La Cruz expected to be rested | OneFootball

Flamengo are stepping up preparations for their next league outing, and De La Cruz is expected to be rested because of the Nilton Santos synthetic pitch, according to Coluna Do Fla.

The Rubro-Negro beat Cruzeiro 2-0 at the Maracanã on Wednesday in the fifth round of the Brasileirão.

Training is scheduled for Friday afternoon at the Ninho do Urubu, with Leonardo Jardim to lead the session from 17:00 Brasília time.

They return to action on Saturday 14 against Botafogo in the sixth round of the league.

In the Carioca quarter-finals against the same rivals, the Uruguayan was also left out of the squad.

With Independiente Medellín of Colombia eliminating Juventud of Uruguay on Thursday 12, the Libertadores preliminaries are complete and the draw pots are set.

As reigning champions, Flamengo are in Pot 1 and already confirmed in Group A for the 2026 edition. The draw is on Thursday 19 March at Conmebol headquarters in Paraguay.
