Fluminense mourns ESPN journalist Paulo Soares, "Amigão"

Fluminense mourned the passing of sports journalist Paulo Soares, known as "Amigão," on the morning of this Monday (29). Through its social media, the Tricolor published a note offering condolences to Paulo's family and friends.

The Fluminense Football Club deeply regrets the death of journalist Paulo Soares. Amigão is part of the imagination of sports lovers in Brazil and leaves a huge legacy in the history of sports journalism in the country. Our condolences to the family, friends, and countless fans.” – wrote the Tricolor's communication team through their social media.

"Amigão" had been away from ESPN since 2023 to take care of his health. At the television company, the journalist worked actively for 30 years and became recognized for being the host of SportsCenter.
