Phil Foden expressed his delight after his two assists propelled City to an important 3-0 Premier League victory over Crystal Palace, taking us two points behind league-leaders Arsenal.

The Englishman reached 100 Premier League goal involvements in magnificent fashion, backheeling the ball into the path of Antoine Semenyo to slot us ahead.

Foden then made it three assists in his last three top-flight starts by prodding Josko Gvardiol’s pass into the path of Omar Marmoush to blast in our second before the interval.

Savinho coolly added a late third as we cruised to victory in our penultimate game of the season at the Etihad Stadium.

Foden, who made his first league start since March and was awarded Player of the Match, was elated with his personal contribution towards the key victory.

“Massively important at this stage of the season, some fresh lads coming in. Josko as well, first game back in a long time. We were all excited to play. I’m ready. It was a massive game and it was a must-win game. I’m really happy.

“I checked a few times before receiving the ball and saw Ant make good movement. It’s one of them, sometimes it doesn’t come off and sometimes the risk is worth trying.

“Very delighted that it came off and that we scored from it. Obviously I’m buzzing to contribute to a goal and help the lads get three points which is most important.

“It’s one of them [second assist]. I just tried to help it on to Omar. It was a bit scruffy. The centre back was coming across, I didn’t realise I had more time. Josko’s great pass as well made the goal I would say.”

This was the ninth time this season that Pep’s side won a game 3-0 in the top-flight and the victory keeps us hot on the heels of Arsenal with two matches left to play.

Foden, as well as touching on his personal form this season, reiterated that City are purely focused on our own games and will do everything possible to fight until the very end for Premier League glory.

“We just keep pushing and keep them on their toes. We’ve seen a lot of things can happen on the final day. I’ve experienced it many times. We just have to keep pushing and doing our part.

“I would say I had a good first half of the season then dropped off a bit. Then I struggled to find a way into the team. It happens with great quality players around you, when they’re more at it than you, they’re going to play.

“I’ve had to wait and be patient. Training as hard as I can and when I got my moment today I had to make the most of it. It’s a team game at the end of the day.

“If you want to win titles and trophies it’s about a full squad. Everyone has to play their part.”
