Wesley Fofana has been speaking to the Chelsea official website about the Blues’ defeat last night, and he had a few reasons why his team had collapsed late on:

“They punished us for every mistake we made. They’re a great team, and they showed it. It is a team that doesn’t forgive this kind of mistake from the opponent. And tonight, we paid for it,” the defender said.

“We were struggling physically [late in the game], and [the PSG substitutes] came on and they hurt us. But we could have defended it better and managed the situation better. We’ll review all of that, and we’ll learn.

“It’s up to us now to progress, to grow in maturity and to stop making these kinds of mistakes because it was fatal tonight. We have to analyse everything and do better in the return match.”

Fofana’s comments ring true over subs

One comment there “we were struggling physically” really rings true. And it brings us to one of the biggest crimes of the night – the use of subs from Liam Rosenior.

Chelsea were playing in an insanely high intensity game, and playing in a highly intense style. But still Liam Rosenior didn’t turn to his bench until after the 80th minute. No wonder his players were physically spent and PSG took over.

As some have said, that’s just managerial malpractice.

In other news…

Goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen has been slammed for some of his actions post game last night.

Reece James has tried to claim the game isn’t over yet – but we’re all being realistic about that now.
