Former Bayern Munich’s Chief Executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has lauded France international attacking midfielder Michael Olise (24), in an interview with T-online. The two-time Ballon d’Or winner (1980 and 1981) has called the former Crystal Palace man a “wonderful player” and “a great guy” and added that he appreciates Olise’s low-key profile.

Olise remains contracted with Bayern Munich until 2029, and the France international’s stunning form this season has reportedly attracted interest from several other European powerhouses. Olise has logged 48 goal contributions for his sophomore season in Bavaria.

Quizzed if Bayern could reject a mammoth €200m+ offer for Olise, Rummenigge shared a story regarding a record bid submitted by Carlo Ancelotti’s Chelsea in 2009 to sign Franck Ribéry from Die Rekordmeister. The former Germany international tells how he, alongside Bayern chief Uli Hoeness and the club CFO Karl Hopfner, decided that Bayern would never sell a player the club the would miss.

“This unwritten rule still applies today. For a player like Michael Olise, there’s no price tag that would make us flinch”, Rummenigge concludes.
