Nottingham Forest have confirmed two squad number changes for 2026/27, with Nicolas Dominguez moving to No. eight and Omari Hutchinson taking No. 20, a tweak that quickly stirred supporter debate.
The club said the full list for 2026/27 will follow in due course, with no other numbers yet confirmed. Dominguez had worn No. 16 since arriving in 2023, while Hutchinson was No. 21 in his first year.
Dominguez’s switch sparked suggestions on X that it could hint at a new contract, a possibility reported earlier this summer. The 28-year-old previously wore No. eight at Velez Sarsfield and Bologna.
Elliot Anderson had occupied No. eight before his £116 million move to Manchester City. Sourcing a replacement for the England international remains high on Forest’s agenda, and any new midfielder will need a different number.
Hutchinson’s No. 20 mirrors the number he wore during two seasons at Ipswich Town, and the freeing of No. 21 led some supporters to joke about a swoop for Anthony Elanga, who wore it before joining Newcastle United last summer. Dominguez and Hutchinson have already reported back for pre-season at the Nigel Doughty Academy on Monday, with internationals due to link up later as new head coach Oliver Glasner will hope to add recruits.
