Forest fans speculate over contract as Dominguez and Hutchinson switch squad numbers | OneFootball

Nottingham Forest have confirmed new squad numbers for Nicolas Dominguez and Omari Hutchinson for 2026/27, a move that quickly stirred debate among supporters.

The club said in a statement that “The list of squad numbers for the 2026/27 season will be confirmed and communicated in due course.”

Dominguez will take No.8, vacated by Elliot Anderson following his £116 million switch to Manchester City, having worn No.16 since arriving in 2023. The Argentine has previously worn eight at Velez Sarsfield and Bologna.

Hutchinson moves to No.20 after wearing No.21 last season, a return to the number he used during two seasons at Ipswich Town.

Some fans suggested Dominguez’s switch could hint at a new contract, though no deal has been announced.

The pair were among those back at the Nigel Doughty Academy on Monday for the start of pre-season, with recent internationals to link up later. New head coach Oliver Glasner will hope to add signings soon.

Hutchinson’s choice leaves 21 vacant, prompting light-hearted calls for a move for Anthony Elanga, who wore the shirt before joining Newcastle United last summer.
