Nottingham Forest head into Friday’s Premier League trip to Sunderland amid transfer noise, with Manchester United assessing Elliot Anderson and Harry Wilson expected to join Aston Villa this summer.

The Telegraph reports that United are weighing up a move for the 23-year-old as they plan for life after Casemiro, with Aurélien Tchouaméni also under consideration. Sunderland could go seventh, temporarily, with a win at the Stadium of Light.

The timing is awkward for Forest. Anderson has grown into a key figure at the City Ground and uncertainty over his future is an unwelcome distraction in a relegation fight. The report added Forest would seek a significant fee for the England international.

Separately, Wilson, loosely linked with Sunderland, is expected to join Villa on a free when his Fulham contract expires. The Wales international is understood to favour European football, and Villa are ready to improve his current terms.

Villa’s interest is longstanding, and Unai Emery wants extra attacking options, viewing Wilson as a strong stylistic fit. With his deal up in June, the 29-year-old is set to become a free agent and has not agreed new terms.

Wilson is likely to wait until the end of the season before deciding, though Champions League qualification for Villa could be decisive. Financially, they are believed to be offering around £100,000 a week, roughly double his current salary.
