Nottingham Forest head to Sunderland amid renewed transfer noise, with Elliot Anderson linked to Manchester United before a Premier League fixture at the Stadium of Light on Friday evening, where the hosts could go seventh temporarily with a win.
The Telegraph reports that United are weighing up a move for the 23-year-old as they plan for life after Casemiro. The same report says Real Madrid and France midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni is also under consideration, and that Forest would seek a significant fee for the England international.
The timing is far from ideal for Forest. Anderson has become a key figure at the City Ground, and uncertainty around his future is an unwelcome distraction during a relegation fight.
Elsewhere, reports suggest Harry Wilson, loosely linked with Sunderland, is expected to join Aston Villa on a free when his Fulham contract expires. The Wales international is understood to favour European football, while Villa are ready to improve on his current terms.
Villa’s interest dates back to January, and Unai Emery is said to view Wilson as a strong fit as he seeks extra attacking depth.
With his Fulham deal up in June, the 29-year-old is set to become a free agent and has yet to agree fresh terms. He is expected to wait until the end of the season before deciding, and UEFA Champions League qualification could be decisive. Villa are believed to be prepared to offer around £100,000 a week, roughly double his current salary.
