Chelsea are major outsiders against Man City at Wembley on Saturday, but former Blues manager Glenn Hoddle thinks they can turn that in their favour.

Hoddle warns Blues not to try and defend their way to win over City

“Too many teams just drop in, their number nine comes so deep and they try to defend, defend, defend,” Hoddle said in quotes picked up by FourFourTwo.

“I understand that, and that’s what will happen, but there are a few things they’ve got to try to come up with, to try to cause them a problem and make them think. If not, they’re going to be in for a tough day… You’re not going to have possession, so they’re going to have to come up with something that’s going to give City something to think about.”

Given how Chelsea’s defence has been this season, especially recently, we’d agree with that. The last thing we want to see is us relying on keeping a clean sheet.

In other news…

Xabi Alonso is now the favourite to be the new Chelsea manager, and Liverpool supporters are scratching their heads and trying to work out why they’re not dropping everything to get their former coach in.

Alonso seems to be getting closer and closer to the Chelsea job, and some fans are very paranoid that it’s simply too good to be true.
