Moises Caicedo was good against Liverpool, but Chelsea will need him to be great against Man City if the Blues want a win.

Simon Johnson of the Athletic has had to report on a pretty bleak scene at Chelsea this year, just like we have. But he was able to draw out a few positives after a good result on Saturday, and in his piece this morning he tried to make the case for the Blues winning the FA Cup this weekend.
One thing he focused on was the improved form of Moises Caicedo. The Ecuador star has been pretty poor in some recent games, but was back to his best against Liverpool.
“What a welcome sight to see Moises Caicedo dictating play in midfield once again. The Ecuador international is one of Chelsea’s most important players but has not been operating at his usual high standards for several months,” Johnson wrote.
“Chelsea looked much more balanced with Caicedo stepping up at both ends of the pitch. They will need him to go up another level against City, though.”
What’s really interesting is whether Romeo Lavia or Andrey Santos is picked to play alongside him.
For all these positives, there are also some serious negatives – namely the Blues inability to stop themselves conceding early in games.
Marc Cucurella also claimed the Blues had deserved to win against Liverpool – and may have done their FA Cup chances some good with their performance.
