In the build-up to Elche’s upcoming La Liga showdown with Real Madrid, Victor Chust has stepped forward with a message that blends realism, confidence, and respect.

The centre-back, who rose through Real Madrid’s academy before building his senior career elsewhere, made it clear that his past will not soften his approach when the two sides meet.

Now on loan at Elche from Cadiz, Chust has become an important figure in their defence, and he insists he will give everything to help his current team regardless of his history with Los Blancos.

Chust’s message of confidence

During his press conference, quoted by Mundo Deportivo, Chust spoke with conviction about what Elche believe they can achieve.

Providing context before his bold statement, the defender highlighted that morale within the squad is high, saying that he and his teammates are “capable of beating” Real Madrid.

He stressed that the team is “confident” and added that if Elche continue working with intensity and maintain their football philosophy, “things will go well and we’ll achieve a good result.”

Not degrading Real Madrid

In addressing the narrative that Real Madrid’s two poor results before the international break might weaken them, Chust quickly dismissed the idea.

With context on Madrid’s mentality, he warned that he expects the league leaders to come fully charged, stating,

“I expect a motivated Real Madrid. I know the pressure there, especially after two setbacks.

“They’ll come here to win, and we’ll focus on our own game. We’ll put on a good performance and see if we can get the three points.”

Facing Real Madrid

Chust later reflected on the emotional side of facing his former club, admitting that the match carries personal meaning.

He explained, with respect and honesty, that the academy shaped his career, saying the game is “special” because he owes “a lot” to Real Madrid

However, he noted that his loyalty now belongs to Elche, clarifying, “Thanks to Real Madrid I am the player I am, but I owe everything to Elche and I’m going all out for this.”

He also praised the close rapport between the coaching staff and the squad, highlighting that “they care about the person before the player, and that’s hard to find at a high level.”

A star-studded Madrid

Wrapping up his thoughts, Chust emphasised that despite the star power of Real Madrid’s attacking line, he prepares for big games with the same mindset.

He explained that football is largely psychological, noting, “It’s mostly a mental thing.

“When you’re at home or in your free time, you start to get used to the idea, but it’s just another game, and may the best team win,” he concluded.
