Dianbobo Baldé hospitalized in Marseille after alarming behavior outside a school
Dianbobo Baldé dit "Bobo" Baldé
Dianbobo Baldé, former captain of the Syli National, was admitted to the psychiatric emergency ward at Timone Hospital in Marseille on Thursday, September 4. His unusual behavior outside a primary school alerted local authorities, prompting his transfer.
The news broke in the French press overnight Thursday. Dianbobo Baldé, known as "Bobo" Baldé, was admitted Thursday to the psychiatric emergency unit at Timone Hospital in Marseille. The former OM and Celtic Glasgow player, aged 49, reportedly showed up several times outside the Accates school in the 11th arrondissement. What made the situation more puzzling is that none of his family’s children attend this school.
Last Tuesday, the day after the start of the school year, parents reported his strange demeanor and confused statements. The former player spoke of a mysterious "mission" he had to complete before dying, which sparked widespread concern. On that day, a parent intentionally hit Dianbobo Baldé with a car before punching him. Emergency services attended to the former Guinean defender, who suffered facial injuries, and then police took him to the station.
Despite what happened, the Guinean chose not to file a complaint. Officers noted his incoherent speech, even during questioning. "He’s a very kind person, but he started saying some incoherent things, even at the station," a source told La Provence.
After being released, Dianbobo Baldé returned to the same school two days in a row. Given the repeated incidents and his worrying mental state, authorities decided to transfer him to the psychiatric emergency ward at Timone Hospital. It’s worth noting that the former defender lives in the neighborhood and had never caused any disturbance before.
