With the 2026 World Cup approaching, there are free football games to try on console, PC and mobile, plus a no-cost update for EA Sports FC 26 owners.
El Periódico Mediterráneo highlights eFootball, Konami’s successor to Pro Evolution Soccer. Build a Dream Team, play AI challenges and timed events, and face online opponents. It updates by seasons rather than yearly editions, and is free to download.
GOALS is a new free-to-play option, skipping official licences for system-generated players who develop, peak and retire, so squads change each season. It brings cross-play online matches, responsive controls, custom physics and regular updates for those after something different.
UFL, from Strikerz Inc., adds modes such as Playoff, Showdown and Squad League, plus seasonal progression and a squad model reminiscent of Ultimate Team but quicker. Online play feels responsive with reasonable wait times, though animations, collisions, defending, the in-game economy and long-term variety still need work.
SEGA Football Club Champions focuses on management. Run a club, handling transfers, scouting, training, line-ups and tactics, then watch the outcome. With FIFPRO, J.League, K League and Manchester City licences, it includes more than 5,000 real players, plus Career and Dream Team modes.
Already have EA Sports FC 26? Its World Cup update is free, adding a tournament mode with 48 national teams, authentic stadiums and content aligned to the 2026 finals.
