Mary Fowler helped Australia reach the Asian Cup semi-finals with a 2-1 win over North Korea.
The Matildas will face the winners of China and Chinese Taipei’s tie in the last four, set to take place on Tuesday 17 March.
Former City defender Alanna Kennedy opened the scoring for the hosts with an impressive early effort, dragging the ball onto her left foot before rifling in from the edge of the area.
It was Kennedy’s fifth goal of the tournament in four matches, ensuring her pursuit of the Asian Cup Golden Boot continues to gain momentum.

Australia made it two early in the second half when Sam Kerr pounced on a loose pass before firing home at Son-Gum Yu’s near post.
But North Korea were far from out of the contest and halved the deficit just after the hour mark through Un-Yong Chae.
Fowler was replaced with 20 minutes remaining, and the Matildas held on to book their spot in the semi-finals.
Our four Japanese stars are also in quarter-final action on Sunday, so keep across mancity.com and the official Man City app to find out how they’ve fared!
We’re back in action at the Joie Stadium on Saturday 21 March, when we welcome Tottenham Hotspur for a 12:00 (UK) kick-off.
City sit top of the WSL table with just six matches remaining, boasting a 100% record on home soil, but that’ll be put to the test against the visitors.
Indeed, Spurs still hold faint hopes of European qualification and have lost just once on the road in 2026, even winning their last away fixture in the WSL 7-3 at Aston Villa.
It all points towards another thrilling clash at the Joie Stadium. Seated tickets are available from just £15 for adults and £6 for Under-16s, with standing tickets on sale for just £13 for adults or £5 for Under-16s.
Don’t miss out as City’s push for the WSL title continues!
