Follow live coverage as Fulham face Brentford today in the Premier League. Another top-flight season will be covered in full right here with The Independent, as reigning champions Liverpool look to fend off competition from Arsenal, Manchester City and more.
The race for the Champions League places should also be a compelling battle, with a fifth place possible for English teams. Manchester United’s latest rebuild under Ruben Amorim sets expectations high once more after a dismal season last time out.
Meanwhile, it’s Burnley, Leeds United and Sunderland who made it back to the elite after promotion last year and each will have hope they can make it more than a one-year stay. Follow the latest live action from the Premier League below:

Meanwhile, the visitors are coming into this game after defeating Aston Villa on penalties in the third round of the Carabao Cup. The Villans had taken the lead through former Liverpool forward Harvey Elliot, before Bees’ defender Aaron Hickey equalised in the 57th minute. After 90 minutes, the match finished 1-1 with a penalty shoot-out to determine which team would qualify for the next round. John McGinn and Matty Cash both missed their penalties for Unai Emery’s side as Brentford scored all four of theirs. The cup victory for Brentford followed a last-minute comeback for Keith Andrew’s men as substitute Fabio Carvalho came off the bench to equalise in the 93rd minute and salvage a 2-2 draw against Chelsea. However, today will be a challenge for the visitors as they are winless in their last three away Premier League games (D1 L2), losing both of the last two, having won seven of their nine league games on the road beforehand (D1 L1).

Hosts Fulham return to action after defeating Leeds United 1-0 at Craven Cottage last week. The game was heading towards a draw until Leeds defender Gabriel Gudmundsson scored an own goal in the 94th minute. The result means the hosts currently sit 13th in the league table with five points. Marco Silva will be cautiously optimistic about claiming the three points today as the Cottagers completed a Premier League double over Brentford last season and are looking to win three league games in a row over the Bees for the second time, after winning their first three clashes from 1928 to 1929.
