Galatasaray have inquired about a move for Inter Milan striker Marko Arnautovic after losing Mauro Icardi to injury.
This according to Italian outlet FCInterNews. They report that the reemergence in form of Joaquin Correa could lead to Inter accepting an offer for the Austrian.
At the moment, Istanbul giants Galatasaray are scrambling to find a solution in attack.
Former Inter captain and ex-Paris Saint-Germain and Sampdoria striker Mauro Icardi will miss the rest of the season.
The Argentine suffered a serious knee injury during Galatasaray’s Europa League win over Tottenham Hotspur.
Icardi has been a talismanic figure in attack for Galatasaray since his arrival in the summer of 2022.
Moreover, it is uncertain whether Victor Osimhen – currently on loan from Napoli – will stay at Galatasaray in January.
According to FCIN, one of the strikers Galatasaray have an interest in after Icardi’s injury is Arnautovic.
The 35-year-old is currently in his second season at Inter.
However, Arnautovic has not played all that much this season.
Therefore, Galatasaray are hoping that the Nerazzurri would listen to offers for the former West Ham United and Stoke City striker.
Moreover, Arnautovic himself could say yes to a move if it means more playing time.
FCIN note that Joaquin Correa’s explosion into the first team picture against Hellas Verona last weekend could play a factor.
The Argentine now looks to be a serious option for Inter coach Simone Inzaghi.
Therefore, there are four other players in the attacking rotation outside of Arnautovic. That could further limit his playing time.
