Galatasaray vice-president Abdullah Kavukcu is confident Inter Milan star Hakan Calhanoglu will eventually move to Rams Park.
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInter1908, Kavukcu reiterated the Lions’ interest in the 32-year-old.
Indeed, his agent even held talks with the reigning Super Lig holders to discuss a potential transfer to Istanbul.
However, negotiations never took off as Cristian Chivu convinced the former AC Milan midfielder to stay.
Furthermore, Calhanoglu has re-established himself as a cornerstone of Inter’s midfield this season.
Despite several injury setbacks, he has scored eight goals and added four assists across 23 competitive appearances.
Still, his contract at San Siro expires in 2027, with Inter unable to renew the elite playmaker’s deal so far.
Meanwhile, Galatasaray have not given up their pursuit.
On the contrary, Kavukcu is confident they will sign Calhanoglu sooner or later.

“Players coming from the Italian league are perfect for Galatasaray’s style of play,” Kavukcu stated. “Okan Buruk, our coach, played for Inter for three years, watches all Serie A matches, and has very… Italian ideas. That’s why we often come to Milan.”
Then, he confirmed that Galatasaray had tried to sign Calhanoglu again in January.
“Yes, we made another move for him. We had discussions with Inter’s executives, but we were told that Hakan would not leave during the winter window. Did the negotiations last summer go on for a while? We never hid our interest.
“Hakan is an icon of the Turkish national team and supports Galatasaray. I don’t know when, but I’m sure one day we’ll see him play for us,” the Turkish executive added.
When asked who is tougher to negotiate with, Beppe Marotta or Aurelio De Laurentiis, he replied: “We have a good relationship with Inter, even if we haven’t completed any deals yet.
“As for Napoli, signing Osimhen was complicated, but that’s normal with such high figures. De Laurentiis had set the price, and when we came forward, he wanted to make sure we could pay the full amount. Being able to do it is a huge source of pride because we’ve shown everyone the power of our club.”
